My verse of the week...
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again - rejoice!!!
How many of us do not realize that this is a commandment from God? We are not to get bogged down in worry and stress but are to turn our eyes to him. And to TRUST! Trust that He's got this. And in that trust is where we will find the peace that will allow us to rejoice in the Lord regardless of our situation!
My verse for the week!
"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will
soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow
weary. They will walk and not faint."
As a child of God, when we put our trust/faith/hope in the Lord, we WILL find new strength. And He showed me this when I struggled so deeply with empty nest. Empty, quiet rooms. No bags dropped as soon as they walked in the door, left for others to trip over. No constant bickering... No late night talks, no chance to catch up on the day to day goings on in their lives, no one to shower with all this love that was flowing unashamedly from my battered heart. But when I turned my eyes to Jesus, my life slowly began to change. And as I look back now, I realize that had I been looking in that direction all along, things would have been much less difficult. Mind you, they still would have been a struggle, but not to the extent they were!
Keeping my eyes heavenward... does this mean I haven't experience difficulties since? Or won't again? Absolutely not! We live in a fallen world! But I know that with Jesus at my side, I will have the strength to get through... not my own strength but his!
Thank you Jesus for this promise! One of many.
Perfect, undeserved love...
So, today Pastor Mike did a sermon on love. As he was preaching, I was compelled to jot down notes on what the perfect love of Jesus has done for me.
* torn down walls of self defense...
and in their place, built self confidence
* eliminated fear...
fear of failure, fear of ridicule, fear of never being good enough and instead replaced it with confidence. The confidence to try, regardless of the possibility of failure, the confidence to stand up for what I believe in, regardless of ridicule, and the confidence that I AM good enough! Because He chose me, because I have a purpose in His plan, because He will never leave me nor forsake me...
* developed a willing heart...
a heart willing to become vulnerable, willing to surrender, willing to give up everything to follow Him
And with God's perfect love filling us, we then have the ability to love others as He commands.
