Nina's Smokin' Hats

Nina's Smokin' Hats

Are you in business now? Do you do special orders?

Nina's Smokin' Hats was started because my daughter loves hats and I quiet smoking after 15 years and needed something to do with my hands.

Nina’s Smokin’ Hats Hi, my name is Jennie Stai. I grew up in Holdingford, Minnesota and currently live in Albany, Minnesota with my wonderful, handsome boyfriend Joe. Joe and I are adopting Joe’s niece Sabrina (Nina). We have had her since she was 6 months old. Today she is a silly 2.5 year old girl. I started Crocheting hats for a couple different reasons….. Besides Being in Love with Goggles and Sunglasses, Nina LOVES Hats!! For 23 years I was blessed to have a talented, Beautiful Grandmother! I loved spending time with my Grandma and I miss her everyday. One of the things she taught me to do was to CROCHET! Believe it or not I was not very good at it nor did I spend much time doing it. Also, up until January 28, 2013, I had a bad habit!! After I quit smoking I started going stir crazy and needed something to do.And Lastly, I entered a drawing were I won a 10 dollars gift certificate from Crochet Works by Amanda. I purchased a cowgirl hat and boots for Nina for 35$. There were so many other really cute items I wanted to get her. I thought to myself “your grandma taught you to do this so why not make them for yourself”. I picked up my hook and some yarn (I had not crocheted in over 5 years and even that was minimal and I did not know the differences between stitches) and figured I could make a beanie hat What I ended up with was a dunce hat! It bothered me so bad I got up in the middle of the night and googled how to crochet a beanie hat. So the very next night I tried again and ended up with a cute little beanie for Nina. I started just making colorful Beanies for friends and their children. Then one day I saw a minion beanie and thought “that’s pretty cool” but really had no reason to make one. 20 minutes later I was scrolling through my news feed on Facebook when I saw that a pregnant friend was running the Ragner Relay. Her teams theme was Little Minions and she had painted minions on her finger nails, toe nails and even painted her pregnant belly as a minion. Right then I knew I needed to make her and her soon to be baby Minion hats. I had no clue I would end up making countless minion hats for all sorts of people from Babies to Big Biker men.

Here are the Slouchies and Scarves I have done. Let me know what you think 🤔!!

It has been very quiet on the Ninas Smokin Hats Page But..... I have been busy making pony tail hats, slouchies and scarves for a friend. Let me know what you think 🤔!!

[11/23/14]   I Promise I have not Fallen off the face of the earth. Summer time is a slow time for crocheting and this Fall I went back to college. Holy smokes I do not remember this much homework the first time around!! I do not have too much time to crochet at the moment BUT I still have some stock and winter break is coming up so will have a little time to crochet! ALSO I taught a good friend, of mine how to crochet hats and she is knocking them out like crazy So I have invited her to sell them on Nina's Smokin Hat Page as well. Since I don't have much time at the moment and I do not want any of your ears getting cold this winter!! between the 2 of us we have a ton of patterns so let us know if there is something special you are looking for! Thank YOU for all your support!! I will be posting pictures in the very near future of hats and scarves we have for sale to help you with your Christmas shopping :)

Now that the weather is finally warming up around here I slow down in the crocheting world. I did just finish this wonderful piece for a friend though :) I can not wait to see it in her soon to be new little bundle of joy :)
