Take adversity as an opportunity for faith to grow, urges NCCS President Bishop Terry Kee

“I believe that we can overcome this storm together, especially when we have Christ with us in the vessel.”
— Bishop Terry Kee, Lutheran Church in Singapore

The Rev. Terry Kee, bishop of the Lutheran Church in Singapore and president of the National Council of Churches of Singapore, has released a message on the COVID-19 pandemic to the Singapore church. Many of his teachings are applicable to the body of Christ around the world as we face this crisis together. Bishop Kee encourages the church to give thanks, be socially responsible, stay close to God, be united in prayer, respond in love and find hope in Christ. Watch the video above or read his message here.

Reflection and a prayer upon the death of George Floyd | Southwestern Minnesota Synod ELCA

"I notice I am tempted to go silent in the aftermath of an event like George Floyd’s death because I do not want to say something that increases pain for those already scared, angry or hurt. But I know I need to speak, and we need to speak. We cannot let our fear of failing cause us to go silent."

ELCA Churches Will Continue to Hold Virtual Services

“We would argue that our congregations have never closed. We would say that the church is actually all the baptized ones, or all God's people, who are spread out in our community living out their faith lives. They gather in congregational buildings to do worship, but we also worship as we live out our lives in God's world.” Bishop Jon Anderson

Morning Devotions May 21, 2020

Good Morning! Let us sing and pray together, meditating on Acts 1:1-11.

[05/20/20]   A prayer for leaders...

Almighty God, One-in-Three, you are mysterious, and yet you let us know you intimately through your Son, Jesus. We lift up our leaders today, from those around us who keep us safe at home, to those of our nation who guide our country. But mostly we pray for the leaders of the world that you might give them heads filled with wisdom and hearts full of mercy. May all leaders everywhere be strong and courageous and work together toward your vision for Creation. Amen.
