[08/06/20]   The 27th Annual Breakfast is only 11 days away!

Not sure what to eat for breakfast this morning? Here is a recipe from Sierra and Leone, two straw-colored fruit bats at the Akron Zoo to try.

Sierra and Leone's Fruit Bat Salad

Ingredients:

1 Ripe banana

1 cup Blueberries

1 Ripe mango

½ tsp Vanilla bean paste

2 Limes, juiced

2 Kiwis

1. Cut the fruit into bit-sized pieces and mix in a large bowl, setting aside any juice that has accumulated during cutting. Do not add banana yet.

2. Pour juice from cutting fruit into a small bowl; whisk in lime juice and vanilla.

3. Pour juice mixture over fruit and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.

4. Just before serving, slice the banana into the fruit salad.

[06/25/20]   Check out this tip provided by Jeremy Lile, Heart to Heart Executive Director. "Take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and find a few others who will help you stay healthy in these areas. While most people will measure your leadership by the externals, these internal dimensions are what will allow you to continually be at your very best for those you serve. And finding a few others (mentors/sponsors and peers) and inviting them to hold you accountable to staying healthy will help you to remain true even when things get difficult."

[06/18/20]   Many organizations, including ours, continue to work remotely among the COVID-19 crisis. Many leaders had to quickly adjust to managing a remote team. But how do you keep this team motivated after months of working virtually? Moving Beyond Diversity Toward Racial Equity

As organizations reflect more deeply upon their practices and are more vocal about their desire for justice and equity, our goal at Heart to Heart Communications is that everyone can bring their whole selves to work. We have a series and workshops to help you and your organization look at inclusive leadership for long-term, sustained change. We would be happy to talk with you more about our offerings.

This was a fantastic read with some practical suggestions for how we ensure that we're moving toward racial equity in our places of work. #LeadwithHeart #DiversityInclusionEquity #LeadershipDevelopment

"Organizations cannot afford not to do this work, but they also can’t enter into it lightly, under the misconception that a training or workshop checks the box. True racial equity and inclusion work in the workplace must look unlike anything we’ve done in past decades, because we’ve consistently failed to tackle racial inequity at its deepest roots. But we can start today, by bringing our fullest selves to the offices and desks where we spend most of our waking lives and empowering each other to do the same."

"Given the magnitude of the shock and the challenges that this crisis represents, companies must consider the full breadth of their employees’ needs as people. Safety is essential, of course, but it’s also important to address higher-level needs such as the want for truth, stability, authentic connections, self-esteem, growth, and meaning in the context of the crisis."
