The Hunt for Habitat Raffle has closed and we have drawn the winners. Before we get to revealing the lucky contestants, we would like to thank you for participating in the Hunt for Habitat raffle!
"Your support of the Second Century Initiative will help ensure the next generation has an opportunity to enjoy South Dakota’s great outdoor heritage," said Game Fish and Parks Secretary, Kelly Hepler. "Together, you raised over $320,000 to improve habitat in South Dakota for all the animals we want to thrive here – that means everything from butterflies and other pollinators to deer, elk, pheasants and everything in between. Good habitat means healthy animals and healthy, happy people."
The money raised will be used to improve habitat on both public and private lands, along with improving access to public hunting areas across South Dakota.
And now for the winners!
The Custer Trophy Buffalo tag goes to Sheryl Leland of Mitchel!
Now the three triple tag winners. Each of these three winners will receive a tag for an antelope, a deer AND an elk.
Those winners are:

[04/19/19]   Good morning shooting sports enthusiasts!! I wish to inform you the Sportsmans Club of Brown County Shooting Range opening has been postponed! The new opening date is April 28, 2019!! See you all out there!!!

Good Morning Shooting Sports Enthusiasts!! The following attachment is an article from today's Aberdeen paper concerning how serious a violation of the National Firearms Act of 1934 can be. Please read the article and let your conscience be your guide!!

[03/29/19]   Good Morning Shooting Sports Enthusiasts!! The Sportsman's Club of Brown County Range is scheduled to open on April 21, 2019. Open from 1pm to 5pm. The opening is dependent upon range condition. In other words will it be dry enough by that time. Standby for more info...……….

Good morning shooting sports enthusiasts!! Hope you are all staying warm today! I have attached an article to this post from today's Aberdeen American News. It has to do with a man in Rapid City who mailed a handgun. It is illegal for a private citizen to mail a handgun. Only military, law enforcement, firearms dealers and manufacturers can use the USPS to ship handguns. Please read the attached article and have a great day. P.S. The weather guessers say we are in for more snow this weekend...……….

[03/04/19]   Shooting Sports Enthusiasts, a quote to ponder as you are trying to stay warm this evening. "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." Dr. Adrian Rogers 1931

[02/19/19]   South Dakota State Constitution, Article 6, Bill of Rights, § 24. Right to bear arms. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be denied.

Welcome to the Wild West???? A recent column in the Aberdeen American News written by Northern State University Professor of Education Alan Neville indicated that Senate Bill 47 allowed South Dakotans to “pack heat” and carry concealed weapons without a permit. A true statement but “over the top” and theatrical? He also stated the following: “It is interesting to note that those who drafted and supported Senate Bill 47 – an act to repeal and revise certain provisions regarding permits to carry a concealed pistol – found it necessary to use the term “constitutional carry”. I have read SB47 several times and I cannot find constitutional carry stated anywhere in the text of the bill. This implies that either Professor Neville did not read the bill or he is embellishing his column. Embellish: make a statement or story more interesting or entertaining by adding extra details, especially ones that are not true.

At this point he went on to school us on the Second Amendment and his interpretation of this amendment. The rant continues using stats that he got off the website ‘Everytown for Gun Safety’ that, in my opinion, would strip the firearms from every legal gun owner in the United States if they got the chance.

I have scanned Professor Neville’s column and attached it to this post. Please read it and form your own opionions!! Quite frankly, I believe he would have us all stripped of our 2nd Amendment rights if he got the opportunity.

[02/18/19]   As many of our basic rights are under attack in our country, I offer you this quote by William Faulkner to contemplate...… “We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.” ― William Faulkner

Good morning shooting sports enthusiasts!! Since Gov. Noem signed SB No. 47 into law, An Act to repeal and revise certain provisions regarding permits to carry a concealed pistol., I have found most people I have talked to have not read the bill. Regardless of how little a person knows about the bill, they profess to be subject matter experts. Such is life at morning / afternoon coffee or over a cold beverage later in the day!! Info for all concerned: The changes are under SD Codified Law Chapter 22-14, Unlawful Use of Weapons. For those of you who wish to review the changes, I have attached an eight page scan of SB 47 and the glossary of Chapter 22-14 in case you wish to dig deeper. Just to see if you have read the bill; Under what conditions can a person under the age of 18 carry a concealed pistol??

Rifle Range

[03/21/18]   Good morning shooting sports enthusiasts! Shooting a silencer "wet".... Center fire rifle silencers are not to be shot wet as this can cause a high pressure situation and possibly cause the silencer to explode. Pistol and Rimfire silencers can be fired wet for increased levels of performance. Water is the best medium for quietest operation, but Hoppes #9 will not rust your gun and works really well with only a small amount of smoke. Wet silencers will have
blow back that will cause "crap" to get on your face! Ensure you are wearing eye protection when shooting a "wet" can!!!

[03/20/18]   Good morning shooting sports enthusiasts!! Silencer words of wisdom for today follow: Do not mistake supersonic bullet noise for a loud silencer. The gunshot (bang) and the supersonic bullet noise are two completely different signatures and the silencer cannot suppress the supersonic bullet noise. No known technology at this time to suppress the supersonic noise.......

The following article is probably the best I have ever read for explaining Point of Impact (POI) shift when shooting a silencer! This article was written by Liberty Suppressors!! Fact not fiction; down with "Coffee Shop Mythology"!!

[03/19/18]   ATF Form 4 waiting times. Wait times are improving with most approved applications being returned in the 7 - 8 month time frame. However, there are still some applications that have been at the ATF since Nov 2016 waiting approval. Repeated phone calls asking for status has only got me the standard response of "Pending". What will be, will be..........

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Aberdeen Gun Show this weekend. I will be showing off my new custom built rifle which was built by Y.G. Custom (Young Guns) in Aberdeen. [12/20/17]   Good Afternoon! Some good news for a change! Received a lot of approved silencer applications in the last couple of weeks. Most have been running 9.5 to 10 months. This is better than the 12 months they had been running. Hopefully the processing time will continue to improve!!

[09/21/17]   Good Morning Shooting Sports Enthusiasts!! Some news on silencer waiting times.............. I called the BATF&E late last week to inquire on the latest estimate on Form 1 and Form 4 processing times. The answer I was given is there are no estimated waiting times due to the backlog of applications. What does this mean? I do not know, but I will tell you the latest approved applications I have received fall in the 9 to 9.5 month time frame for processing. I will continue to post as more apps come in to keep you informed and will call the ATF again in a couple of weeks to see if they have any updates!!

[08/19/17]   I have received a half a dozen approved Form 4's in the last week. All the lucky one's have been notified!! Time frame to approval ran from 9.5 months to 10 months. I will keep you all posted!!

[08/16/17]   Need your barrel threaded for the silencer you are waiting on? Young Guns is ready and wiling to take on the job!! Don't wait until the fall hunting season rush!!

[08/16/17]   ATF Form 1 and 4 wait times. Up until 6 to 8 weeks ago the ATF had a recording that said wait times were 8 months. One day recently I called to check on wait times and the recording was removed. I stayed on the line to talk to a customer service representative and was told the wait times were now approximately 11 months. Anybody tells you anything different means they are either uninformed or lying to you!!!

I have fidget spinners in the form of revolvers (firearms) for sale! I do not have shirts!

Lane LLC Mirage Covers!! One of the latest products from Lane Silencers! I have this superb product on hand!! All pertinent info on this wrap is contained in the attached video. Reasonably priced! Why pay more; Call / text me at 605-290-0763!

Quick overview and mounting of the LANE Mirage cover

I was in a ground blind approximately 80 yds from the bait can you see pictured. What a rush when a bear came in out of the brush about 20 yds in front of me and proceeded to the bait can. Took my shot a couple of minutes later. One shot and the bear fell a couple of yards in front of the bait can!! Shot the bear with one of my Bergara 6.5 Creedmoor Rifles. Out of six hunters, only two of us dropped our bears right where they were shot. The other four bears shot had to be tracked. Shot placement!!!

[06/04/17]   Many times I have heard the following rhetorical question "Does a bear sh*t in the woods?" After my bear hunting trip to Canada, I can now confirm "Yes, bears do sh*t in the woods!"

One of the guys in our hunting group shot this 360 lb black bear that is more of a chocolate color. Color phasing. Great trophy!
