Trillium Lodge is very proud to feature in an article on Great Barrier Island in the Sydney Morning Herald last weekend.
traveller.com.au There are no supermarkets, ATMs, footpaths or streetlights on the island; and most locals are tucked up in bed by 9pm.
It was a pleasure to Have Marylane and David Byler and family to stay at Trillium Lodge. The family came to Great Barrier Island in 1997 to help build Trillium Lodge this was their first visit back a big trip from Bonners Ferry in Idaho, USA.
We recommend Good Heavens, they do an amazing tour of our sky.
We named our company Good Heavens, for the spectacular starry sky of Great Barrier Island, New Zealand.
Our island is accredited as one of only four International Dark Sky Sanctuaries in the world. Sanctuaries are the darkest dark sky places. That means there is more to see!
Come and check out how good our heavens are! buff.ly/2L7tUTn

travelinsider.qantas.com.au Family-friendly and perfect for surfers, Great Barrier Island near Auckland is overlooked for its neighbour Waiheke but it still has plenty to offer.

In Auckland at night, you can see about 500 individual stars. On Great Barrier Island, the number is around 5,000. It's New Zealand's very own Dark Sky Sanctuary - one of only three in the world! It's amazing to spend an evening with the lovely ladies from Good Heavens. I saw Saturn #StillBuzzing. I also toured on a trike and found a gorgeous hot spring in native bush. Thanks, Go Great Barrier Island, Visit Auckland, Barrier Air and Lynn and Jo from the luxurious Trillium Lodge, Great Barrier Island. We had a blast! Beautifully filmed and edited by Rory Three Lamps Films and studio styling by Fleur Kelly from KILT Tauranga #Teameffort
Tune in 📺
TV3 will be highlighting our island and its dark sky 🌌 on The Cafe, this Thursday, 9th November at 9am!
