The department of City Police would like to caution all road users that the intersection of Nelson Mandela and Metje street has been closed off from all direction due to a pipe burst that saw a stream of water on the road.

The public will further be updated as soon as the situation is back to normal.

The Windhoek City Police department invites members of the public to use this opportunity and visit its stand at the Windhoek annual agricultural show.

[09/17/19]   We have just received confirmation from NamPower / ERI that the transportation of the ‘Abnormal Load’ will reach the outskirts of Windhoek today the 17th of September 2019.

The Abnormal Load schedule is as follows:

1. Transportation to continue from Okahandja to Windhoek in the afternoon, time to be communicated at a later stage.

2. On the ‘Gravel Bypass Route’ at the intersection of Monte Christo Road and Hosea Kutako Drive, opposite the Van Eck Power Station.

3. Wednesday the 18th of September 2019.

4. Thursday the 19th of September 2019 – continue on the route via Witvlei to Gobabis

5. Friday the 20th of September 2019 – continue on the route to Buitepos and the Trans Kalahari Border Post with Botswana.

City Police proudly received a donation of paint valued at N$65000.00 from FNB Namibia, the paint will be used for road marking and street demarcation, which helps to provide guidance for disciplined and safe driving in the City of Windhoek.

The Windhoek City Police Service would like to inform the general public on the ongoing road at the portion of Western Bypass from Sam Nuyoma direction before reaching Western Bypass bridge opposite The International University of Management (IUM).

It's against this development the general public using this portion is directed to drive at a speed of 30 kilometre when approaching this portion of the road by the road workmen and road signs.

6 Suspects broke into a house in the Tauben Glenn residential suburb where they have locked two kids in a bathroom as they got away with school bags, a flatscreen Television and some clothes. They then managed to escape until one of them was caught red handed in a nearby riverbed.

Earlier today, the Windhoek City Police arrested an unlicensed taxi driver for causing an obstruction at the intersection of Katjikuru Katjiuongua and Ghanzi streets in Katutura. The driver allegedly threatened to use a firearm on a police officer.
