In accordance with Article 3 (1) of the Namibian Constitution, the official language of this page is English. Adv Corbett, on behalf of the Government, began leading argument this morning by making the Government’s position clear.

This case is not a matter of weighing citizen’s rights against each other-

the right to education vs the right to strike.

Instead the constitutional right to strike is recognised, respected and upheld, but the necessary deployment plan for a safe, peaceful strike needs to be put in place before the strike can commence.

Argument by NANTU, represented by Adv Heathcote, is still to be heard.
