Fleabag Live comes to Soho Theatre

Love Theatre? Love humour? Really love Fleabag? We have exiting news! The live performance of Fleabag will be available to stream first in the UK from today Monday 6 April on Soho Theatre’s On Demand platform. Then for a limited 14-day period from Friday 10 April, Fleabag will also be available on Amazon Prime Video for a 48-hour download for a minimum donation of £4. This initiative is driven by Phoebe Waller-Bridge who, along with Fleabag co-producers DryWrite, Soho Theatre and Annapurna Theatre, have directed that all proceeds will be distributed to the National Emergencies Trust (NET), NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, as well as the newly launched Fleabag Support Fund created to help freelancers working in the arts industry. Wem Thursday Indoor and Outdoor Market

Please read this information with regard to the market.

Until further notice the market will, unfortunately, not be running.

Thank you to everyone who visited the market last week to buy their fresh produce whilst following government guidance on social distancing.

We have been monitoring the events daily and been in communication with various related parties and unfortunately we have come to the difficult decision to completely close the market until we are allowed to resume normal daily life.

We apologise to those in our community we know rely on this provision, this decision has not been made lightly. We look forward to reopening the market at the first opportunity we have and hope you all follow the government guidelines, continue to socially isolate and most importantly, stay well and in good spirits.

In 1202 the town of Wem first started having its weekly Thursday Market. Since then the market has seen highs and lows, famines and feasts, war and peace and, most relevant to now, population illnesses.

As custodians of this history the weight of keeping our market functioning weighs heavy on our shoulders therefore tomorrow there will be a very limited market in Jubilee Square to give our friends and neighbours opportunity to get essential food items in these strange times.

We hope everyone is safe and well and agrees this is the best action in these difficult times.

As custodians of this history the weight of keeping our market functioning weighs heavy on our shoulders therefore tomorrow there will be a very limited market in Jubilee Square to give our friends and neighbours opportunity to get essential food items in these strange times.

Chris, our fruit and veg supplier who is on the market every week in summer and winter will be in place tomorrow morning, set up and serving our community.

To keep Chris and yourselves safe please follow these guidelines:

Please only visit if you are well

Please stand at least 2 metres away from anyone else

Please don’t crowd the stall

No more than two people should be together at any one time

It is on all of us that tomorrow, while the market is taking place, that you do not stand within 2 meters of another person, especially whilst queuing for your goods. Please do not be the person which closes down the market for everyone else.

We hope everyone is safe and well and agrees this is the best action in these difficult times. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to direct message us here.

It is with deepest regret that Wem Town Hall shall remain closed until further notice.

Hopefully it will only be a temporary measure!

Thank for supporting your local charity and we look forward to seeing you here partaking in some of the fantastic events and performances we will have on offer in the future.

For ticket refunds, please leave a message or email us and we’ll get back to you when we can.

Please bear with us during this busy time as we deal with all queries.

Thank you

[03/18/20]   COVID-19 UPDATE

Temporary Change to opening times and programme

As the Coronavirus situation evolves, the safety and wellbeing of customers, volunteers and staff is our overriding priority and a responsibility that we take very seriously. Following the latest advice from the UK government we are cancelling all classes and entertainment events initially until the end of March. WTH and the cafe will be open Monday to Friday with reduced opening hours so we can continue to provide a community facility. We will be applying additional stringent hygiene levels to our service in our 5 star hygiene rated cafe. This is paramount to allow us to continue providing this service to you.

At present the Thursday morning market will also continue indoors at WTH and outdoors at Jubilee Square so that our community still has access to essential goods and services.

Wem Town Hall Community Trust will be monitoring the ongoing situation and following government guidance so this situation may change over the coming weeks.

In the first instance we will be contacting those who have booked already for screenings and events until the end of March. Activity beyond this period remains subject to the emerging situation. Please look out for further announcements in the coming weeks.

As a registered charity and small independent community arts organisation Wem Town Hall is dependent on income from ticket sales. If your booking is cancelled and you are in a position to do so, we ask you to consider donating the value of your ticket to Wem Town Hall or accepting a gift voucher rather than a refund. If you can do so this kindness will help support us through these difficult times.

Thank you for your continuing support.

[03/18/20]   It's business as usual at the Wem Town Hall cafe. We will be serving until 2pm and take-away is available so please pop in if you are out and about.

If we could ask that you pay by card if you can to reduce the handling of money as much as possible.

For take away orders please call the cafe on: 01939 238 270

Monday March 16th, 2020

Please be assured that Wem Town Hall Community Trust is closely monitoring the current Coronavirus situation and is following government guidelines concerning staff, volunteer and public safety.

At present, we are not making the decision to cancel events, although some external events and room hires are no longer going ahead at the organiser’s discretion. We are therefore operating as normal. For any events that have been cancelled, we will be in touch to let you know and are able to offer a full refund. If you are unable to attend due to illness or self isolation, please let us know as soon as you are able prior to the event and we will be able to issue you with a gift voucher to use at a later date.

Please do not put yourselves or others at risk if you are showing symptoms of the virus. We hope you will aid us by washing your hands upon entering and leaving the building.

Thank for supporting your local charity and we look forward to seeing you here partaking in some of the fantastic events and performances we have on offer in the future.

It’s a hive of activity here this morning! It’s going to be a busy craft fair today!! We hope you will make it along.

[03/13/20]   This announcement has just come from the Metropolitan Opera:

"In light of the evolving coronavirus COVID-19 situation and in consultation with the office of the Mayor of New York City, Saturday’s performance of Der Fliegende Holländer at the Metropolitan Opera has been canceled. Therefore the scheduled Live in HD transmission has also been canceled. The Met is following the lead of the city, state, and federal elected officials, as well as the recommendations of the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We apologize for any inconvenience."

If you have tickets for this performances you will be entitled to a full refund.

Should you know of anyone who is attending this performance please can you pass this information on. We are making every attempt to contact people but this would help us greatly.

[03/12/20]   *EVENT UPDATE*

Unfortunately all performances of WEM ADOS' Joseph on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th April have now been postponed until further notice. The organisers of the show have taken the decision in light of the current situation as the show contains many young actors who could potentially be at risk of Covid-19.

Rescheduled dates will be announced soon - please call our Reception on 01939 232299 if you require an immediate refund.

We thank you for your understanding. Currently, no other Wem Town Hall events are affected.
