Founded in 1993, The Life Centre is a friendly haven, where yoga and Pilates inspire well-being and a community spirit. We believe firmly in the values of community; we are an integral part of our local communities in Manchester and London, play our part in the wider UK yoga community, and, perhaps most importantly, help to create a community among our students and clients.

"Imagine waking up to nothing but the sound of birdsong and a tinkling bell outside. You have slept soundly in your cool Egyptian cotton sheets and its time for morning yoga!

After taking a mindful shower and putting on your yoga gear, you make your way down to the yoga room, taking an ayurvedic herbal tea with you.

Outside the yoga room the garden is just waking up, covered in sparkling autumn dew, Rufus the cat is stretching out after a busy night and the sun is softly rising in a rose gold halo.

You add your shoes to the familiar row of flip flops and slippers and enter the yoga room. The faint smell of natural incense floats in the air, and you make yourself comfortable on your mat. You look up to the parachute silk ceiling and begin to arrive. Here you are in your body, with your breath beginning another beautiful day at Les Passeroses."

If you have never attended Jane's classes then why not make tonight a first. Yogic mindfulness is a simple practice to help us arrive in a more balanced place. The class is simple and quiet, but the practices take us very deep.

The second of Patanjali's yamas is the practice of satya, or truthfulness. As we begin to grow our awareness, deepen into connection with our body, heart and soul, and start to live more in alignment and authenticity, our knowing and truth begins to become of stronger importance. Are we lying to ourselves? Are we speaking what we really feel? Are we expressing ourselves even if we feel fearful, or shaky, or vulnerable?

This is a great article about the practice of satya in our lives from the wonderful teacher Judith Hanson Lasater :-)

"When we experience a person speaking from satya, we resonate with those words. Hearing words that express truth helps us to experience a deep recognition that unconsciously we already know the truth. Upon hearing such words, we feel that some deep, essential part of us has been seen, heard, and understood. When we sense such profound acknowledgment and understanding, our soul receives an almost primordial comfort. We feel at home from the inside out, and we are inspired to act from that place of virtue within ourselves. Thus, beginning to practice satya by bringing more awareness to our words not only aids us in our lives and relationships but also contributes to the well-being of the whole world."
