Zeitreise 1945 | 360°-Videos

*Zeitreise 1945 an interactive 360 ° experience of a destroyed city* The starting point of the virtual reality application are historical color photos of Frankfurt am Main, that document the extent of the destruction during World War II in a particularly haunting manner. The focus is on shots of important places in the metropolis, such as the Römer, the cathedral and other central buildings and streets. The historical photos are placed in the context of the restored old town with 3D effects. Virtual “tours” open up access to original documents, eyewitness statements and historical facts.

Stefan Brauburger, head of the ZDF editorial team for contemporary history : "The elaborate processing of the color photos for a 360 ° environment, accompanying information and narratives are intended to make the situation at the end of the war a real experience for younger users, too. The images demonstrate, like that of Nazi Germany unleashed war of annihilation back on its own country, metropolises like Frankfurt were in ruins at the end of the war. But it also becomes clear what efforts were necessary to rebuild the cities.“ Berlin Filmmaker and producer Elle Langerr, Pimento medienproduktions GmbH, realized the interactive documentation for the common 360 ° : We put VR and web applications together, so that the viewer can immerse into 1945 with VR glasses, but also can go on a virtual journey through time via browser to get an idea of the situation.“ Check it out now
