THE PALEO DIET: Great for weight loss, Paleo encourages you to eat like a cave-woman by cutting out all processed foods, grains and legumes to focus on eating what was available at the time – things like animal protein (i.e chicken, fish), eggs, fruit, nuts, seeds & veggies.

THE 3 WEEK DIET: This is a new program quickly gaining popularity and one that I actively endorse for quick and safe results. As the name suggests, 3 weeks is the time-frame used to deliver a sensible, calorie-controlled approach to weight loss with healthy ‘real’ foods.

While all of these diets have evidence to support their use, the best diet for any of us is ultimately one that meets your individual needs and offers a practical solution that fits your lifestyle. How do you start off your monday mornings? #nurtox #detox #workaholic #tea #health

One of our Nurtox lover's daily essentials! What cant you go a day without? #nurtox #detox #fit #tea #health

For some of us, sunshine is around the corner. With that in mind, we are all thinking of that beautiful weather and beach body. As many of us are already getting ready for the summer by indulging on our Nurtox Herbal Detox Tea, something else to keep in mind as we prepare for an enjoyable summer.

While you’re catching some rays this summer, think about vitamin D. Sometimes called the “sunshine vitamin” because it’s produced in your skin in response to sunlight. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin in a family of compounds that includes vitamins D1, D2, and D3. It can affect as many as 2,000 genes in the body.

Vitamin D has several important functions. Perhaps the most vital are regulating the absorption of calcium and phosphorous, and facilitating normal immune system function. Getting a sufficient amount of the vitamin is important for normal growth and development of bones and teeth, as well as improved resistance against certain diseases.

If your body doesn’t get enough vitamin D, you’re at risk of developing bone abnormalities such as osteomalacia (soft bones) or osteoporosis (fragile bones).

Besides getting vitamin D through sunlight, you can also get it through certain foods and supplements.

- Fatty fish (such as tuna, salmon, and mackerel) are among the best sources of vitamin D.
- Beef liver, cheese, and egg yolks provide small amounts.
- Mushrooms provide some vitamin D. Some mushrooms you buy in the store have higher vitamin D content because they have been exposed to ultraviolet light.
- Most milk in the United States is fortified with 400 IU vitamin D per quart. Most of the time, foods made from milk, such as cheese and ice cream, are not fortified.
- Vitamin D is added to many breakfast cereals. It is also added to some brands of soy beverages, orange juice, yogurt, and margarine. Check the nutrition fact panel on the food label.

It can be hard to get enough vitamin D each day through sun exposure and food alone, so taking vitamin D supplements can help.
