The Kiwanis Music Festival 2019! Another festival has come to a close and I couldn’t be prouder of my students (and one former student:). Here’s to everyone’s hard work and courage. It’s not easy to get up in front of an audience and adjudicator, be vulnerable and sing your heart out!!! You all did so well and represented the studio so amazingly. As your teacher, you inspire me. Thank you to all the parents and friends for your support. Thank you also to Evan Smith, Phil Roberts and Peter MacDonald for playing for these singers. You three are amazing at what you do. “Deposit the sound into the silence”. Words my former voice teacher used to say to me. I’ll never forget her magical use of words. They would conjure up such vivid imagery for me. The language used in teaching voice is SO important and has always inspired me. How people process language and what words and phrases trigger that “lightbulb” moment in a lesson, is what drives me. I live for those moments of discovery with my students and clients!! Sharing in that excitement and joy with people makes my job endlessly rewarding. If you are someone I’ve worked with in the past, I just want to say, THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting me with your instrument. Thank you for having me be a part of your journey as a singer. It means more to me than you may ever know. Paint the silence!!!!

[02/02/18] I was reading through an old journal I kept while in grad school when I came across this quote. "Never discourage progress, no matter how slow. Singing - a slow evolutionary, continual, mind and body process." 🌱✨😊 I love this! Have a great weekend everyone.

[01/26/18] Family Literacy Day!
Exploring POSTURE and ALIGNMENT is something I wish I could show every singer how to use to benefit their sound.
You can expect:
A. Reduced tension in the tongue, jaw, neck and shoulders
B. Reduced fatigue in the voice
C. Reduced unwanted qualities in the sound itself
D. An increase in vocal range
Physical ALIGNMENT is DIRECTLY RELATED TO SINGING. In my experience, many approaches to the correction of POSTURE do not draw attention to the integral role of the head to our overall body ALIGNMENT.
Email or text me today to book a session for more about posture and alignment!
