Louth United Church and Maple Lawn Cemetery

My grandfathers headstone is on the left closest to the driveway. Several years ago I erected my headstone at a different cemetery because I was told they were not accepting any fore burials. One of the posts below mentions a recent funeral. Have things changed ? If so, I could relocate my headstone here.
Someone on this page mentioned their paternal grandfather in relation to Cohalan Street and I would like to make urgent contact with them as I am trying to locate the original address of Judge Daniel F Cohalan in Stamford 1917/1918 as we are traveling there to speak and would like to link in. Please message me and I can email you more details on our historical project. With many thanks. Grainne Blair

Louth United is an historic church and home to Maple Lawn Cemetery in west St. Catharines. The historic church and cemetery were started in 1878.

By 2006, the congregation dwindled to a few parishoners. The trustees searched all avenues to find an entity that would ensure the long term survival of the cemetery and even the church. In 2012, Peter Coholan, having been retired for 2 years, agreed to operate the cemetery and work towards preserving the church.

🙂 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day – August 28, 2021, is the day we recollect the pets that are no longer with us. Deborah Barnes, author of “Purr Prints of the Heart,” established the day as a way to share recollections of pets, like a canine, a hamster, or a snake. After she wrote her book, Deborah got a mind-boggling response from the individuals who understood it.

Hello to people following my dad's business, Maple Lawn, for which I take comments and observations on Facebook. Today, August 9, is a nice day for my dad, Peter, and my mom, Linda, because they are celebrating their fifty-second wedding anniversary. I spoke with my dad briefly on the phone earlier, and he sounded like today has been pleasant.

I'll join them later this afternoon for a bite to eat. What has my mom cheery, I know, in addition to the anniversary, is that their daughter, my sister Kaitlyn, is bringing her family to St. Catharines on August 28, by who I mean her husband and their seven-month-old infant. They're here to catch up in St. Catharines and to introduce the little boy.

All of this is nice, and I am trying to accede to a warm family dynamic between the six of us, given this opportunity to say the right thing at the right time a few more times than usual. 🙂

For months I haven't been at Maple Lawn Cemetery, except for the day this summer when we were hosts to a funeral, as a team. I think, as far as Facebook goes, which my dad Peter encourages me to use for the cemetery, I maybe had some of our followers thinking our business might have closed, temporarily, or permanently. The business is, truth be told, dynamic.

I returned for the current week to assist my dad. I saw that last week, a sign went up in the field, where the Louth United congregation once assembled. I felt that today a photograph of the new sign would be exquisite on Facebook, as well as a little more information about where our group's at. 🙂
