VIU Canadian Nursing Students Association

Mission Statement: To promote healthy learning by supporting nursing students and providing current resources to aid them with their educational goals.

For over 40 years, CNSA has represented the interests of nursing students to federal, provincial, and international governments and to other nursing and health care organizations.
As a member of CNSA, you have the opportunity to interact with other nursing students on educational, professional, and social levels. CNSA members connect with each other through annual national and regional conferences, CNSA member forums, Facebook, and Twitter.
The CNSA, with nearly 25,000 members, is an affiliate member of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) and Practical Nurses Canada, as well as an associate member of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU). The CNSA has a reciprocal relationship with Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) and is a co-chair of the New Health Professionals Network (NHPN).

How has conflict in clinical or at school affected your learning? We’d like to know about your experience.

All entries will be entered in to win one of 3 $300 TRAVEL BURSARIES TO NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN CALGARY. One of these will be reserved for a indigenous student so please indicate on your entry if you self-identify as indigenous.

Entries must be one page or less and must be received before Friday November 23rd at 1600 PST. Send to membership@cnsa.ca.

Typically each has a meeting monthly to discuss their internal projects and communicates via Facebook group or email. Involve yourself as much as you want to because they are 100% voluntary.
Committees are great opportunities to work with other nursing students from across the country while collaborating to evolve the nursing profession.
Feel free to send an email to the appropriate committee chair's email to join and/or for more information.

In person: A CNSA member will be in the main lobby of Building 210 from Oct 15-Nov 1 from 1130-1300. Cards are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. You will blindly draw a card from the poster. Keep this card as we will draw the winning card November 2nd. The winner will receive half the prize money and the VIU-CNSA will keep the rest!

Etransfer: Please etransfer the respective funds to cnsa.club@viusu.ca with your name in the comment section. You will receive an email saying your card deck colour (red or blue) and card (eg. Queen of Hearts). Remember this card. We also have a master list to keep track.

The proceeds go towards our chapter of the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association to support our nursing students. Our goal is to provide nursing students with leadership and networking opportunities, an introduction into the political and ethical aspects of nursing, and involvement in the evolution of nursing practice through encouraging attendance to conferences.
