𖣐 Pearl Jasmine 𖣐
Jasmine flowers are rich in antioxidant that can help combat free radicals in the body. This, in turn, helps benefits the skin.
Powerful polyphenols and antioxidants in jasmine tea act as anti-aging elements by eliminating free radicals, which are known to cause skin damage and wrinkles. Polyphenols help to minimize fine lines by generalizing skin pigmentations.
Also contains anti-inflammatory properties to help keep skin clear and reduce redness.
The smell of jasmine is also know to be stress reducing which can help lower cortisol hormones. High levels of cortisone can increase acne and inflammation.

All over my unsweetened apple crisp at the moment....
Warming foods are life during fall and winter not only for your digestive system but also your immune system.
My topping is basically oat flour, almond meal, brown rice flour, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, cardamom, sea salt and ghee.
Apple have lemon juice and some cinnamon.
Bake up and enjoy!
Makes for an amazing easy to digest breakfast.

How To Stay Younger

Great Passionate Eye episode.
Really shows how keeping a healthy weight, being fit as well as eating well keeps you younger! Using the latest science, volunteers embark on an anti-aging program. Will they be able to slow down the aging process in just three months?

Skin care you use an abundance of skin care products in hopes of so called perfect skin?!

Over using products on your skin can actually make it worse.
We do not need to use 20 products on our face, we also do not need to spend hundreds of dollars for products.
Keep it simple and keep it gentle.

I personally only use a gentle unscented cleanser, rose hydrosol, unscented moisturizer and a balancing oil when needed and wash with lukewarm water and never scrub my face with a face cloth.
I make my own masks and use them maybe once every 2-3 weeks.
I no longer use scrubs, or much in the way of essential oils as a lot of these can wreck your skin’s natural PH balance.

I do use Gua Sha, Facial rolling and Dien Chen tools on my face but ever so gently. I think micro needling can be a dangerous thing for your skin in my opinion especially if you are not getting professionally done. Can lead to scaring and permanent damage.

Be gentle with your beautiful face Lovelies.....and seek simplicity for your skin products.
Less is More!

Why I love pumpkin seed butter for healthy skin and hair!
π–’† Moisturizes Skin:
Pumpkin seeds have generous quantities of unsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3. These fatty acids contain natural emolliating properties keeping the skin moisturized.
π–’† Fights Acne:
Fighting acne is also one of the best benefits of pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, a mineral possessing anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce the scarring and redness caused by acne. In addition, zinc assists calm overactive sebaceous glands, due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.
π–’† Prevent Premature Aging:
The antioxidants, vitamins A and E, contained in pumpkin seeds aid combating free radical formation and thereby, decrease the incidence of premature aging.
π–’† Boost Hair Growth:
Pumpkin seeds have high doses of L-lysine and iron – two nutrients which can help curb excessive hair shedding.

Pumpkin seeds contain numerous essential minerals such as zinc, magnesium, copper, manganese, and phosphorus. They are high in antioxidants and give generous quantities of vitamins A and E, and contain essential vitamins consisting of vitamin K and B as well. They also have adequate doses of potassium and sodium.

What percentage of your day is spent looking at your computer screen or cell phone?
We spend a lot of time in front of screens. We need to make time to rest our eyes and support them with herbs.

My two favourite chinese herbs are:
π– ΊJu Hua/ Chrysanthemum flowers: anti-inflammatory, clears heat from the eyes and liver, helps treat blurry and spotty vision, watery eyes, and tired and sore eyes.
π– ΊGou Qi Zi/Goji berries: helps nourish blood, which the eyes use a lot of, high in antioxidants, strengthen the vision, nourishes the liver and kidneys and helps moisten dry eyes.

Gosh it is so crazy to hear how so many people are obsessed with being on a certain diet from vegan, paleo to keto etc. Because someone they see is doing it on social media.
Many diet trends can be very unhealthy for your own body. They can cause major gut issues, hormone issues etc.

I feel for many out there that are lost and trying to get healthy. The social media world can be so overwhelming with the trends. But I see more and more people becoming unhealthy following these strict diets.
Lovelies please listen to your body?!
Truly listen......

If you are needing guidance seek a nutritionist who isn’t one sided with the way of eating. Because being only one sided can put something way out of balance.
Our bodies need to be in homeostasis to thrive!

Why Nutritional Yeast Is NOT Vegan Health Food (+ what it really is)

Some amazing insight on Nutritional Yeast and why I stopped using it over a year ago! Nutritional yeast is a cheesy, nutty, flaky, yellow condiment used mainly by vegans and vegetarians for protein, minerals, and B vitamins. Surely that's healthy! Learn why nutritional yeast is NOT vegan health food, what it really is, and if you're at risk for reacting negatively to it.

π–€’ The Autumn equinox marks the transition from Summer to Fall when the amount of light in our day changes. All of the animals and everything in the natural world take their cue and begin to prepare for a long winter sleep. During this time, we are invited to kindle the light within to illuminate our way through the longer nights.

π–€’ The Autumn Equinox represents a time of harvest both in our physical world, but also by making space to reflect with gratitude on the past year of all we have harvested (manifested) in our every day lives - emotionally, mentally, spiritually.

π–€’ This transition into Autumn, when the light is diminishing, is calling us to align with the changes occurring in the natural world and kindle our inner light of wisdom and courage. Through our strength of will and singularity of focus we can bring our light to illuminate times of darkness. All of nature is heading the call to go within and find the illumination inside.
π–€’ It is time to enjoy the blessings of the harvest and to abide in gratitude for the abundance the harvest has brought.
π–€’ I love taking this time of year to reflect, get grounded, go within more, honour the need to nourish my body with warming foods and elixirs, to bake more, to reading more, to healing baths and to taking in the fresh crisp mountain air in the trails.
π–€’ How are you celebrating this beautiful transition?

Here's What Happens To Your Eyes, Brain & Heart If You Stare At A Screen For 6+ Hours A Day

Great article.
Especially if you have kids that are using cell phones and such.
Keep them off cell phones as much as you can. Get them outside more!!
Cell phones can really effect brain and eye health.

I personally find being on the cell phone can really effect my health.
I have cut the time I am on my cell phone down immensely.

Be wise with your time on your devices and if you have a job where you are needing to be in front of a computer all day.
Take breaks, give your eyes a rest and focus on the horizon or something in nature, eat healthy. Take eye supporting herbs, try a good pair of blue light blocking glasses. Emerging research is telling us to take a break.

FYI Lovelies!

Feeling the shift in seasons. The the morning and evening sun light is shifting, the mornings and evening are crisper more refreshing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am welcoming fall with open arms. It is one of my favourite seasons(metal season in TCM). I will be making Fall the time to reset, to more self care indulgence, more elixirs, baths, dosing myself in body oils, long hikes in the trails.
My body prefers the cooler months. I am so looking forward to less crowded campsites, more reading, being snuggled in blankets. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love noticing the subtle changes in the seasons.....even the air smells different! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who is ready for Fall???

Did you know that herbs can also provide you with vitamins ?
I love making over nite or sun tea infusion and then literally then drink my vitamins and minerals for the week.
Getting your vitamins and minerals in through herbs is so easy and better yet your body will assimilate all you drink.
Some of my favourite herbs to make a vitamin/mineral infusion are: Oat straw, Nettle and Red Raspberry Leaf.
Oat straw:
It’s rich in calcium, potassium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C, Vitamin B, dietary fiber and antioxidants.

is rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, and K. High in calcium and magnesium. The leaves are protein-dense. It also contains iodine, iron, silicon, and potassium.

Red Raspberry Leaf:
Is packed with potassium, iron, magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin B, and vitamin E, along with a number of powerful antioxidants.

It has been a hot slice since I have posted anything food related. So here is a photo of my newest yummy creation.
Carob Goji Blueberry cookie cake!!!!

The Art of Slowing Down.

The older we get the more we need to nourish the yin, embrace the feminine, the stillness, the quiet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is yin...
Yin is the fluid component of the body, moistening and cooling the energetics of the physical self. The yin is the synovial fluid that supports the joints, it is the fluid in the disks of the spine, it is the moisture that plumps up muscles and skin, it is the coolness that keeps the mind from racing and allows us to sweat in tiny, imperceptible amounts to regulate our temperature. Even though it is slow moving and subtle, the yin keeps us balanced and stable.
Most women have depleted their fluids by working too hard, sleeping too little and doing too much in a day.
It is the lack of stillness in our lives that throws us off balance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We do need both the yang activity of life and the yin restfulness in life in order to stay healthy.
