What’s new this tax-filing season -

Here are all of the newest general income tax changes for this upcoming tax season. This tax-filing season, many important changes and improvements were made to services, benefits, and credits for Canadians.

CRA Information Request

For all of my business clients, please see the following paypal announcement regarding the new CRA rules. Paypal is now mandated to disclose any payments businesses have received to the CRA. This means that if you use paypal to receive money for your business, you MUST claim this money as it is now traceable and the CRA will have record of it.

While searching the internet today, i came across a website with virtually any info ever needed regarding taxes, refundable and non-refundable tax credits, disability claims, business right offs etc. It has lists and lists of tips and information. - Canadian income tax, financial investing and real estate information and calculators for individuals and business.

Business expenses -

When you have a business, write offs are a major factor. They not only help reduce the tax payable on the revenue you earn, but also helps reduce any employment income you may have earned in the tax year. And hey, any refunds are always a PLUS!!! A list of deductible business expenses as well as their explanation for use on Form T2125.

Students and taxes: what you need to know -

With school starting in the next week I thought that I would give students some ideas on how to save some money tax wise for 2017.
