A fun day watching and cheering on the junior belts at gradings today. Such a rewarding experience for our youngsters as they learn life skills and camaraderie with great teachers, classmates and friends.
Good luck to those having a crack at their Senior & Junior Shodans this weekend. Give it your all & never quite. Go for it👊
Attended another amazing Yoseikan Ryu karate Awards Night yesterday. What struck me the most while observing the proceedings, was seeing just how much everyone in the Yoseikan family really care for & respect each other. Great things are brought about & many goals & dreams achieved through the efforts of many hands. This is how I see Yoseikan Ryu karate It is a true family in every sense of the word.

Mitchell Durham - Round 3. Mitch fought a competitor from Turkey. He did exceptionally well against a very good opponent who was unlucky not to make it to the finals. If he had Mitch would have had chance to fight in the repachage pool for 3rd place. This was an amazing effort for is first attempt at a senior world championships.
Mitchell Durham - Round 2 at the Senor World Championships, Madrid.
Achieving my Senior Shodan in December last year, would arguebly be one of the most challenging yet amazing experIences in my life so far. Sadly however, since achieving this milestone, I have been unable to commit to any further serious training due to work committments. My biggest fear is to lose my interest or love for karate over time. Thankfully however I have found away to keep my interest in karate alive. I have found that helping out at the various clubs to be invaluable. I'm learning so much more about karate by assisting, while alao watching and learing from the senior instructors. My continued involvement in Cardio Fit is also a major factor. Its also a great way of giving back to this amazing club👊
Hi is there training for wado open this Saturday? And What times please 😊

Yoseikan-Ryu is a Karate club that teaches self-defence and focuses on discipline, respect, building confidence and resilience amongst it's students.

The Chief Instructor for Australia is Branco Bratich, 8th Dan. Branco and his senior instructors, have built Yoseikan into an Australia wide organisation. Branco opened his first club at the Girrawheen Recreation Centre Perth in 1978. National Junior Coach Branco was appointed Australia's National Junior Coach in 1989. Since that time Australia's National Junior Teams have achieved outstanding results. Australia's juniors have defeated the mighty Japanese in the Junior Asian Pacific Championships and also defeated the top European countries in the Junior World Cup, winning gold medals in the male and female team events. National Senior Coach Branco was appointed to this position in 1992. Since Branco has been coaching National Senior Teams, Australia has won two individual gold medals and many silver and bronze medals at World Championships. His national coaching record remains unbeaten. Inner Development You can develop the intrinsic power and the strong determined mind of the Martial Arts. Children Karate is ideal for the development of children, both mentally and physically. Parents experience a big improvement in their children's attitude, which affects them at school and at home. It is important to involve children in positive activities during their formative years. By exposing them to the positive environment of Yoseikan-Ryu Karate you are giving your child the best opportunity for their future. Check Before You Join Why Join Yoseikan-Ryu Karate? Yoseikan-Ryu Karate has earned a reputation over the years for teaching a high standard of karate. In these times of sophisticated marketing it is easy to be duped into joining karate organisations which have instructors teaching with suspect qualifications. It is important that you join a reputable karate club. The only way to guarantee an organisation's credentials is to make sure that the school you are joining is a registered member of the Australian Karate Federation. If they are not, save your money. To confirm any club's membership and the instructor's qualifications, phone the Australian Karate Federation in your state. The Australian Karate Federation is the only karate organisation recognised by the Ministry of Sport & Recreation and by the Australian Sports Commission. Health and Fitness Fitness Karate is one of the best activities which provides both aerobic and anaerobic benefits. It is a balanced exercise for both upper and lower body utilising a wide range of body movements which can also be used for self-defence. Health Build a strong body and improve your balance, coordination and timing and live to a healthy old age. Fun Activity Karate is a great activity to interact with others and build a strong sense of belonging and friendship. Yoseikan hosts annual camps where all students get an opportunity to socialise with the instructors. Yoseikan-Ryu Karate is a family orientated organisation. Tradition Yoseikan-Ryu Karate has direct lineage to Japan. This lineage gives credibility to the Australian Yoseikan Organisation. It is imperative that karate maintains it's traditional heritage. There are too many "so called" masters teaching martial arts in Australia. You can be assured that all Yoseikan gradings are nationally and internationally recognised and the instructors are fully qualified. Sport Enjoy the thrills of competition and pursue the rewards of being a champion. We teach sport and traditional karate. Self-defence Achieve an effective self-defence ability to help you through today's troubling times. Prepare you and your family for the future.

Yoseikan-Ryu Karate achieved outstanding results at the State Championships. Before I acknowledge athletes and their results I think it is important to acknowledge the unsung volunteers behind the scenes.

I think everyone will agree that the support that our dedicated team of coaches give our competitors is amazing. They are all motivated by support our athletes and not obsessed with winning.

More history. Three of Australia's top female competitors, Jessica Bratich, Karie Marriot and Kellie Shimmings. Nationally competing in the women's team event they were unbeatable.

There is also a great shot of Nicole Bridgeman doing a very effective takedown. Her mother was scoring at the time on the ring that Nicole was fighting. Unfortunately she was looking down at the time and missed the action.

This was a great trip. Kellie Shimmings was 14 years of age and Hani Zahra was 18 years old.

Congratulations Keira Sanft for your outstanding results. We are all proud of your dedication and your well deserved reward. Lets not forget Coach Owen Blockley's dedication. He has spent many hours training and videoing Keira's kata for the different international competitions. Well done Owen.

Keira's results in the 1st Euro Grand Prix E-Tournament
1st under 21 Female Kata
2nd in the Women's Open Kata
2nd in the under 18 Female Kata

Keira's results contributing to placing Australia 4th out of 27 countries and placed Yoseikan Ryu Karate 2nd from 53 clubs

Guess who? This would be nearly 40 years ago.

Now this is a blast from the past. It was Branco's first time as Australia's National Junior Coach. It was the first Junior Asian Pacific Championship, which was held in Fukuoka, Japan.

A great photograph of brothers Donald and Rudi James, both Yoseikan members. It was also Adam Camuglia's first stint in the Australian Team.

Creative team kata

Here we have 3 of our young dedicated kata exponents. They were not satisfied with doing traditional kata so they created their own. Great work Jayda Gledhill, Tia Keane and Georgia Moore.

Our first grading for the year. From the look on all of our students faces they were delighted with the outcome. Yoseikan’s success is based on family values. We are old school in the fact that we teach children that they have to work for what they achieve. Resilience, resilience, resilience that is our major goals. This would not be possible without the support of the parents. That is why we describe ourselves as the family club.

I would like to add that the children who excel at karate are rarely the talented ones they are the dedicated ones. Talent is easy to get dedication and resilience is what it takes. The most successful students we have had is where the parents trust us and let us do what we do best. Being a supportive parent is what it takes.
Thanks to all our dedicated instructors who prepared the students for the grading. You dedicated commitment is recognised and appreciated.

I would like to personally thank the following people. Jerome and Mitchell Durham and Art Comiskey for preparing the dojo for the grading. Tracey Durham and Olivia Stead for their administration.

Congratulations to Keira Sanft for her outstanding performance in the International E Tournament WORLD SERIES - KATA. Her result of 3rd place is amazing. Her dedication and commitment is finally starting to pay off. Lets not forget her personal kata coach, Owen Blockley. He always puts everything he has got into his coaching. Very few people know the hours he has put into Keira and our other kata competitors. He was at the dojo with Keira on many a late knight taking the videos of Keira for the competitions. Well done both of you.

The latest schedule for the Yoseikan hombu ( headquarters)

We have been running our very popular senior black belt kata session for several weeks. I was pleasantly surprised how popular it has become.

Today I taught the basics of the Bo. Everyone found it enjoyable and in some cases challenging.

Melisa Hodzic took the training to the next level when she did some creative weapon training with the broom. I particularly enjoyed the sweeping part. Saved me doing it.
